During Rosh hashanah we read “Unesaneh Tokef”. What does “Unesaneh Tokef” mean, and why is it so important? Unesanneh Tokef talks about Hashem’s ability to grant life and death. By reading it we are inspired to do teshuvah.
The Gemorah says that one who is found to be righteous is sealed for life, the one who is wicked is sealed for death, and one who is in the middle hangs in the balance until Yom Kippur. For the one in the middle, during the Aseres Yemai Teshuva there is opportunity to change his fate for the positive.
It's profound to think that from such a small tefillah, we can learn so much! The first lesson is how great Hashem is. The second lesson is that though Aseres Yemai Teshuva is really a short period of time, it can be utilized in a way that can totally transform our lives! Let's continue to take note of the seemingly small opportunities that are given us, and change the world!
