Staying Motivated - Vayechi

The other day, I sat down to write. At first, the ideas flowed effortlessly, and everything felt aligned. But then, one small distraction was enough to ruin everything. The momentum disappeared, and I found myself staring at an incomplete page, frustrated. It’s amazing how quickly focus can slip away, and yet, getting back on track can feel so much harder.

In Parshas Vayechi, Yaakov gathered his sons to bless them and share insights about their future. When it came to revealing the time of Moshiach's arrival he was unable to continue. But why did Yaakov tell them that Mashiach would be coming in a long time, shouldn't he have just skipped it? Yaakov wanted his sons to understand that their actions were vital—that by staying committed, even if the results don't happen now, they would help bring moshiach closer.

This lesson carries over to so many areas of life. Any meaningful task can feel overwhelming when the end goal seems far away. As I struggle to write each word of this article, I am reminded to focus on the next step, not the finish line. Each small effort moves us closer—even when it feels like we’ve lost our way.

Good Shabbos

All the best!
