Recently, I faced a challenging moment where my gut reaction was to turn to alcohol or caffeine to sidestep my genuine feelings of anxiety. Instead, I opted to stand still and confront those authentic, scary, and difficult emotions.
In this week's parsha, Vayechi, we read about Yaakov's life. I resonated with one of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's teachings on this topic because he emphasized that the core value of life is in serving Hashem. Building on this, Rabbeinu Bachaya highlighted the importance of not only performing Hashem's mitzvos but doing so with joy.
I believe life's worth is rooted in authenticity because if we are not authentic, then what are we? In my experience, facing discomfort and sitting with raw emotions led to a more profound sense of genuineness. As we conclude this week, I invite you to join me in not merely going through the motions of mitzvos but embracing them with happiness or sadness, depending on the situation. With that, we can all truly live and make this world a better, happier place!
Good Shabbos
All the best
