Lately, I’ve been finding it hard to wake up and show up when it matters. Some days, it feels so much easier to stay in bed, pull the blanket over my head, and ignore everything. The weather is cloudy, my to-do list feels endless, and I’m tired. Yet those moments, the hardest ones, are often the most significant—because they remind me of my mission.
In this week’s parsha, we read about the continuation of Yaakov Avinu's journey. Last week, Yaakov finally left Lavan's house. For years, he worked tirelessly, endured trickery, and lived in a place filled with darkness and negativity. Why did he stay? The answer is that Yaakov had a mission. His task was to uncover and uplift the sparks of holiness hidden within the mundane and unholy parts of the world. Only when his work was complete did he leave.
Life can be difficult, and the challenges we face often feel impossible. The work in front of us might seem small or unimportant, but we each have a mission. Like Yaakov, we are here to uncover and uplift the sparks around us. Even when we struggle or don’t see the bigger picture, our efforts matter, and every action brings infinite blessings and light to the world.
So, if you ever relate to me and feel like giving up, when the weight of the day feels heavy, remind yourself: your work is not finished. Each step you take makes a difference and brings holiness into the world. Trust that Hashem placed you here for a reason, and keep going! May we all find the strength to keep making this world a better place!
